A Russian missile attack targeted a humanitarian convoy in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, killing at least 23 people, according to a regional official. Russia is moving to seize Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia after holding annexation votes in the areas.

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid, reporting from the city of Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine’s partially Russian-occupied Zaporizhia region, says the area struck by an alleged Russian missile strike is well known as a major “transit point”.
Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall, reporting from Moscow, says the Russian capital is being readied for Putin’s formal annexation announcement. “Preparations are being made for a big celebration, both an official one inside the Kremlin and a public one in Moscow’s Red Square,” Vall said.
