Do you still collect DVDs in 2020? Which ones have you picked up this year?

I hope we can still have physical media in the near future because too many things are going only streaming

Great video! I do still buy DVD’s also, when it’s a film I really want and the Blu-ray is expensive or hard to find or if there’s no Blu-ray release for the film.

The vast majority of my collection has been purchased via thrift stores and pawn shops as I also just love finding gold for cheap. Some of my haul videos contain films purchased new online but most of it is used stuff. Buying used always gives you better stories too!

I’m a new subscriber and looking forward to checking out more of your content.

DVDs for life! 📀
I still collect DVDs for many reasons, 1. I have a collection that I love and am proud of that I have no interest in replacing with constantly changing newer formats. 2. As you said they are the cheaper in price option and more accessible as well as having a better choice when it comes to some obscure stuff. 3. They look way better on a shelf and as a physical thing compared to Blu-Ray with that ugly blue strip on top of the box. I do have some of my top favourite films in nice special edition blu ray releases (Steelbook / digipaks avoiding the ugly cases as much as possible lol) but for the usual new movie pick up, DVD is my go-to and old reliable 👍🏼 also the quality is absolutely fine on a good TV and player, love VHS too. May own a few 4K as it’s nice to have a bit of everything. But I’ll always stand by DVDs.

I prefer getting Blu-Rays/4Ks, but I still collect the odd DVD because:
a) There films and shows that I like enough to own but not enough to where I have to have them on a superior format so I'm happy to just get the DVD dirt cheap.
b) Some of my favourite films and shows are still only available on DVD

I collect DVD’s and BluRays. Mostly because I recently found a BluRay player at a thrift store. I also buy movies from dollar tree. Cheaper than streaming and the selection I have is better. Most recently I have picked up an assortment of Christmas movies, old westerns and popular titles like Gravity, The Man from UNCLE and the Christopher Reeves Superman movies among others.

Nice video... AND, we have the same hair 'style'! 🧐
I have gone for more stubble calling it a 'Statham' you Sir are rocking the full 'Bronson' and I say BRAVO
SUBSCRIBED on account of a mutual love of the Bargain Bin.
I am in France, where they chuck any English-Language films in the bin, so I have to bribe my charity shops to hold them for me.
Best wishes 👍🇬🇧

I love physical media, so I buy Blu-Rays and 4K. I only buy a DVD when I can't find the film on Blu-Ray

I really enjoyed this video. In the same way that I feel the latest automobile technology should not obliterate the use and enjoyment of cars from the past, there is no reason new video technologies must lessen the joy of viewing movies in older formats.

You captured this probably better than I am saying it here. As you mentioned, when DVD was introduced the quality of the picture and sound blew us away. That same quality we were astonished by is still there to see today. The fact that slightly better formats have emerged does not diminish everything that made watching a DVD so enjoyable to begin with. It is a wise person who can rekindle that enjoyment again, rather than throwing away collections and starting over.

But then I still have a 16mm film collection, as well as a VHS collection, a DVD collection, and a pretty large Blu Ray collection...

Save the planet! Keep old technology in use and out of landfills.

I’m with you 📀💯👏🏾

I have at least 300+ DVD’s and they’re neatly organized on shelves. I don’t but Blu-Ray because those blue cases are hideous 🤷🏾‍♂️🤣

Great video I just can’t do DVDs anymore, only once in a while I buy a DVD but it’s only TV shows. I’m sticking to Blu-Rays. And I try not to get deep into 4K because Blu-ray PQ is still good enough for me.

Great video!
I collect dvd's, bluray's and just started with some 4k bluray.
For me I personally buy my movies depending on what format has the best cover artwork or sometimes steelbook.
I also like to buy movies from other countries because the artwork is better.
And my favourite TV shows that are not available on dvd I burn to Verbatim discs.
I burn a 1080p file to a dvd disc and the quality is still very good.
I hope Physical media will be around forever.
P.s. you're cute. :)

Great Video, well said ..!! I'll wager 4K discs are the final physical retail format, afaik and hope, there will be no 8K physical media.
The way I see it; the jump from DVD to Blu Ray picture quality is night and day... Blu Ray to 4K difference is minimal to the average viewer, unless watched under 'laboratory type' conditions with perfect vision.
Only a very small % of 4K discs are actually true/native 4K, most are 'upscaled' 2K masters, not that dissimilar to watching a Blu Ray on a 4K display IMHO.

I still buy new DVDs as well... here in Canada Walmart has a 5$ bin that have lots of great titles...you do have to dig thru them though.

Do collect loose DVDs? I have a lot from boutique blu ray combo packs. Maybe we can make a deal?

I understand brother.
I started with the Beta Maxx
Then VHS then switched to DVD.
I kept about 100 or so videos like my music and horror ones but got rid of the rest. I still buy DVDs now and I do have Blu rays but I wouldn't update all my DVDs to Blu ray if there is a movie that I want and the Blu ray is a couple more fillers then the DVD I get the Blu ray but as for 4k I'm yet to get into .

Hi there, just found this video. A fellow movie YouTuber here.

I still very much collect DVDs. If it's a curiousity buy or a back catalogue title then I buy DVD'S.

I buy blus if they are a good deal or something I really want on blu.

I have a handful of 4Ks having recently bought a 4k system for a home cinema/movie room and whilst it is very good. The quality hasn't blown me away to the point of only wanting 4k titles.

The majority of my collection is DVD's (2500ish to 500 blus and about 10 4ks) and like you charity shops and places like Poundland or even CeX on occasion are where I get them from. I got to HMV a fair bit but tend to get blus from there.

I don't think dvd is going anywhere anytime soon. It's still the best selling of the 3 physical media discs. As you have said cost and availability factor in this heavily.

Cheers

Great video. I lost count how many times you repeated “collecting DVDs in 2020” though. It’s in the title, we get it 😂
