My grandma used to fix orange slice cake every Christmas. She wasn’t a fan of traditional fruit cake, so orange slice candy cake was her “fruit cake.” None of us have been able to find her recipe for it. She has been gone for 4 years now. But seeing this video and recipe definitely put a smile on my face! Thank you for this Christmas blessing

At first, I couldn't find the Jiffy mix so I tried making this with my own scratch cake mix. It was a disaster and I tossed 'em all. Alas, I ended up finding the Jiffy cake mix in the Bronx after all and tried again. You know, it was delicious. Full disclosure, I substituted the 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil for 2 tablespoons of butter, (I can't make cookies without butter), and 1 tablespoon of oil. I also used a mix of fresh smokehouse almonds, cashews, and pistachio nuts, I chilled the dough in the fridge and lastly, I used a wooden spoon. I got like 18 cookies all told. I like bigger cookies. I rotated the pans and switched the levels. These were surprisingly wonderful. 100% recommended.

My goodness…that one’s unique! I always try to find one or two new-to-me cookie recipes to make each December, so this looks like a great contender. I just have to get the Jiffy cake mix. My husband LOVES those candy orange slices so I bet these will be his favorite cookies this Christmas!

Use a little bit of the cake mix in with the orange slices while cutting them to keep them from sticking together. That works well for me.
