I was lucky enough to hear Marilyn Horne singing this live in concert in Adelaide in 1979. She sang this as an encore after an completely amazing recital.

I love this song so much I've decided at my late age to take piano lessons so I can learn it. Before I die, I want to be able to play at least one beautiful song for a wonderful friend of mine and Beautiful Dreamer is the song I've chosen. Wish I could but I'll have to accept that will never happen. I love Marilyn Horne's version of this song.

parts in a play called ( Tom Thumbs wedding ) im not sure but i believe ( Beautiful Dreamer ) was in this play and have loved it then and love it even more today, who could not like any thing Stephen Foster & Marilyn Horne have done...

Hi my mum is over sixty and she has just started to learn the piano too. (She did learn a little when she was a child but her family was poor so it didn't last.) I think she's doing pretty well, and should be able to do a simplified version of this song in no time. Hope this is encouragement to you, it's never too late to learn. I hope you're having fun! =)
