I was doing lots of research finding new battle royale games for Android/iOS, new mobile FPS games 2023, and Android games like PUBG Mobile, and I came across a forgotten version of PUBG Mobile you may or may not remember! This was PUBG Mobile Timi Version (also known as PUBG Mobile Marching Version), and it was available only in China with enhanced graphics like PC PUBG. This mobile game is like a PC game and it is WILD - also, considering this game was first released in 2018, graphics are exceptional! This might have been in the best graphics mobile games list of that time! What do you think about this secret PUBG game? The reason for this version's shutdown wasn't about optimization, it was able to run on 2 gb devices, the real reason was some pc players got jealous of this free to play mobile version which was the closest to paid pc version and it wasn't even that much demanding, and even there were some petitions for shutting down it

Fortnite mobile wasn't really official it felt like they just added a mobile port.

When Tencent decided to make PUBG on mobile, they told two development teams, Timi and Lightspeed to create two seperate versions of the game. Both of them used similar game engine but with two distinct differences. However, in the end, Tencent chose Lightspeed's version of the game because at that time, there were no mid range or lower mobile phones that can or could've supported it's higher graphics. Hence, it's bad for marketing.
Other reasons is that the market was so saturated with Netease's ROS and other of their PUBG copycats that Tencent decided to put their foot down to the ground.

Edit: How I knew this? I was a PUBG fan (still am...) When I found out that they are making a mobile version of the game, I went rummaging in social media and websites that could let me enter the CBT of the game.

I was lucky enough to play this version, We called it Timi version as it was developed by Timi Studios. Really optimised and graphics looks phenomenan, but there was lots of hackers as well. Now pubgm feel like a playground with all brand promotion cars and items and adding ridiculous stuff in area of the map.

New State Mobile is a downgraded version of PUBG Mobile Marching in terms of gameplay elements, but upgraded version in terms of graphics (i guess?) But i like Marching's graphics more becoz of it's render distance and overall feel of the game

I played both the timi and the lightspeed studio versions on my galaxy s5 in 2018 and I can say with absolute confidence that the timi version was better in every possible way, the gameplay was way smoother and optimised than the lightspeed version, lightspeed version at that time had a lot of issues, was always laggy and pixelated whereas the timi version was flawless, running at 1080p 20-30 fps on a lowend 2Gb device, I still question the decision for the lightspeed version to be choosen over this game still to this day. Had this game been chosen, the mobile gaming industry would have revolutionised in a way we could never have imagined. Now it’s all anime skins, cartoonish graphics and effects. Sadly there is no good fun to play game out there now that doesn’t require a monster of a device to play. I have the 15 pro max and i still cannot play warzone mobile comfortably which is the latest pc like game for a phone, the last good game to ever be ported beautifully to a mobile was GTA san andreas, PROVE ME WRONG.

Bro main reason why i falled love in PUBG originally was erangels post apocalyptic atmosphere. In fact i switched in Pubg from Fallout games

I remember this version it was so underrated. I didn't played it bcz i was a kid back then when PUBG was launched.

Can't we spam anywhere so timi studios can make this GAME again. I wish we could play this its literally so better than new state. And don't talk about todays so called PUBGM/BGMI

There are three games you forgot to mention that literally puts most shooters to shame when it comes to visuals.

-WarAfter (Currently dead)
-BattlePrime (Still hangging on for dear life)
-Afterpulse

BP is a game that was released, I think back in 2018. And Afterpulse was earlier, I believe. Both games offer console level graphics without the penalty of one. Like, if I saw BP on Steam, I'd just think that it was another PC indie-game or a console title. That's just how good these games look.

But, these are also living proofs that you need more than just visuals in order for a game to be successful.
