In this video I go over how to play MIDI on a guitar without having to use a MIDI pickup with the Midi Guitar App by Jam Origin. I demo how it sounds as well as give a walkthrough on how to use it. It's a really cool app and it works fantastic if you are interested in exploring the world of MIDI guitar.

Great video Scott! I watched 5 or 6 other tutorials on this product, yours was the most informative. Thanks

I use this on my acoustic gigs w/ my 12-string. I use Sample Tank in the app and with the orchestra strings behind my 12-string, it sounds HUGE and beautiful! Tracking is great!

Excellent tutorial, Scott! You have a very pleasant way of explaining these issues!I always wanted a midi guitar way back in the middle 90s, and Steinberg were very helpful - but my bank manager wasn't... I'm refitting my Yamaha electric guitar, and this is the software and interface I'll prbably go for, with an iRig and a farely recent iPad! Thanks again, my 74 years won't seem a day too long!

Thanks 🙏🏼 picked up a few tips- I’ve been using this for a while but still missed some things, excellent presentation!
We’re spoiled as guitarists with iPads such amazing synths available at a steal. What are some of your favs?

Hey Scott, I have both Fishman triple play and MIDI Jam Origin. I cannot get my mind on which one to use live. They both have they pro and cons. Given that I will be mostly using chords (fast pace though), which one you would recomend for performing live?

I think you understood the guitar section a bit wrong. I doubt the idea is to use it to split the signal. Many of the presets at least on the PC version include both the guitar and midi instrument sides simultaneously, using effects like the Deep Harmonic EQ or the Deep Expressor in the Guitar pipeline to create a sound that's already quite synth like for the guitar, then adding midi sounds on top of that. In the presets on PC there's for example the patch Deep Techno Fluty, which doesn't use midi at all, and only uses the Deep Expressor effect to create a synth like sound from just the guitar signal. Kinda like how the Electro-Harmonix Synth9 pedal and the Boss SY-line of pedals create synth like sounds without midi, just by processing the guitar signal.

One added benefit of this is that there's even less delay, since it doesn't have to perform any note identification, it's just modifying the input sound.

have the tracking of polyphonic maj and min 2nds intervals improved in the latest version?

Does the desktop have the 2.5 version as well as the mobile one?

Thanks for the video. Really informative. Question, playing live, could I place I-rig interface after the a/b box? I would like to run one path through my pedalboard into my amp, and the other path through the I-rig into the iPad

Hi Scott. I commented on your other video yesterday and today and I subscribed . Its nice to see a fellow midi guitarist doing awesome guitar work. I sent a follow up comment/question today on your other Triple play video asking about the latency differences between the wireless TP with a Mac verses the iPad pro. I'm so hoping the latency is not greater with the iPad pro. I hope to do some cool things with it if it not slower in its data flow. On another topic, can you tell me if there is greater latency with the Jam Origin verses the Triple Play on the iPad? Thank you kindly for you time in reading this

Just amazing...
Was hunting for something like this precisely...
I have a Windows 10 running Ableton Intro License...
What are the limitations of the trial version of MIDI GUITAR 2...?
Secondly, is it wise to buy a Focusrite audio interface or Behringer for this usage?
Am a beginner for midi guitar...
Would a similar setup work for a mandolin instead of guitar?
I have both...And gonna try both for sure. Thanks in advance. Pune city, INDIA

Wow that's incredible that you can do all that with no hardware. The only thing that makes me prefer the fishman triple play is that it can do different sounds for each string but is that worth more than twice the money

Do you know if you can play complex chords like altered dominants? Or is a midi pickup the only way to go with that kinda thing?

Can I incorporate this app into my quad cortex pedal, if so, how? Thanks. QC has midi inputs as well as 1/4” & XLR inputs.

Have you tried to record midi with the Tripleplay? because i just bought the Tripleplay and it works well as a stand alone but when I open it through the FL Studio for recording it doesn't bend notes .. that's how I've found your video about the Jam Origin because without bending notes the Tripleplay just doesn't make sense

The keyboard and chord wheel are for seeing what notes you are playing on your guitar…
Pluck a note and the note key will illuminate
It’s more handy than having the tuner on the screen I find

does it have the ability to print the midi its playing.???

How can you use this to control a dedicated hardware guitar synth? Like the boss sy-1000? Or is it better to just skip that and just find other sound apps to create what you're looking for?

Also, how would you use this in conjunction with a regular pedalboard?

Using the trial version I found there was too much latency even with the buffer set at the lowest value. Do you have that issue with this app? Any advice? Is the fishman any different as far as latency is concerned?
