Our passenger rail is so grossly underfunded, we are so far behind the rest of the world. We will never meet our climate goals without a massive, and immediate, investment in public rail transit.

I love how he says over 300 trains a day like it's impressive. Google says the UK has over 18, 000 passenger trains per day. Clapham junction station has 110 trains per hour! Yes I've heard all the arguments about how the US is too big for passenger rail etc. but even in the densely populated north east corridor it could be a lot better.

Sadly. Amtrak is reaches the End of the Line of how they’re suffering. And surely, I hope Amtrak deserves a retrospective system of passenger services. Trains like passengers deserve *Right-of-ways* and building more stations and revive former and built lines.

Atrak is a giant waste of tax payer dollars. You forgot that bit. The only profitable lines it has would still be operating privately if Amtrak didn't exist. Also, the reason I give Amtrak shit is because their tickets are always more expensive than flying, usually a lot more expensive.
