Benedict Cumberbatch Smaug mocap comparison

I'm going to put it here since people keep asking in the comments: The mocap work done here was Benedict's own suggestion. The film makers just decided to go with it.

It's obvious that they used some audio from the clip of his mocap here, then went back to rerecord for some others. Obviously, the mocap isn't 1:1, and it looks more like they just used it here as inspiration for the animation of his mouth, jaw, tongue, and nose.

To all the people saying "tHeY dIdN't NeEd To MoCaP iT" clearly don't understand acting. Just saying lines into a mic in a booth isn't much.

He wanted to get in character he asked for this and he fucking nailed it.

I just realized how that scene was an encounter of Sherlock (Benedict) talking to Watson (Martin) in a parallel universe where they are a dragon and a hobbit

For everyone questioning why Benedict did full mocap when they didn't use all of it. First of all it was Benedicts choice and he loved it, helped him get into character.
Secondly it gave the animation teams ideas on Smaug's personality, how he would move and emote
