This channel is best thing I’ve ever discovered on YouTube. It could be a lifesaver for someone close to me. I’m scared of losing them every single day

The scariest thing about my sobriety was realizing how much damaged I have done to myself and others without realizing how many times i could've or should've died .

I have a good deal of those fears especially about personality change after sobriety. Before I smoked pot I had zero friends, nothing in common and no social skills. I copied my twin sister. Her style, make up, music, habits... etc.
unfortunately that has been my only way to know how to make friends, gain a sense of humor, ability to dim my senses so I can actually socialize. Upon my many times quitting, the times I stayed sober for over 6 months, I worked and slept. I had no desire to be around people (I mean they all smoked so...) but still. No friends, no social skills, no coping ability to be around people.
As I have the next quit date on my calendar, I am arming myself with stuff to help with sensory processing. I have a strong feeling that along with learning social skills, and ability to block out excessive amount of crap I can’t tune out I think I’ll finally be able to stop smoking pot.
Sometimes there can be a benefit to coping through a drug. However, I am fully aware that using a drug to cope with any problem has a huge potential to morph into addiction. Which my use has done... Glad I subscribe to you so I have this resource to face my fears.

Numbers 1 and 7 - after some time, I realised that I can have just as much fun sober and nobody is bothered that I don't drink or use. Sober used to feel boring to me but it soon becomes the new normal and is better than living with your substance of choice

I'm all honesty you made some valid and useful points. You never came across that you were the grand wizard of alcoholism, which was refreshing. My story is that I quit drinking eight years ago after drinking for fifty years with the last thirty-five years drinking excessively everyday. When I chose to quit drinking there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would succeed. My biggest concern was that I could stop drinking. I wondered if I still had the social and coping skills necessary to make a good life for myself without alcohol being the forefront of everything I did. I found transitiooning from drinking to sobriey was easier than I thought. For many reasons one that I was 65 yrs old when I quit, never felling I missed out on anything by sitting in a bar for most of the day. I was never bothered by a few people who would bad mouth me I stopped because these were the same people who mocked and ridiculed me when I drank. Which made their opinion null and void. In all honesty they disliked me as much as I disliked them. Found relationships with friends and loved ones I bankrupted from my drinking to quickly became a support system that am still always grateful for. I became less anxious and better at making better choices than I ever had when I drank. My life has never been better since I quit drinking.

Thanks for putting this video out. I'm gonna forward it to my son (who is still using) in hopes that something will click and he can see he has the same fears as so many others. Don't know if it'll make any difference but I have nothing to lose by sending it! Thanks again for ALL your videos

Hi lovely lady! I just sent this video to my sponsee. Your videos are soooo valuable in a world where recovery centers are privatized! Most people who really need help are not wealthy thank you thank you thank you!

Fear of going through withdrawals is the absolute worst! I will go into a panic attack just thinking about it. Do you think you could do a video on how to get off maintenance drugs, like Suboxone or methadone and how to live life not being on anything, after being on for example heroin for 20 years and then methadone for two years and then Suboxone for four years…

I found your channel because of your Chris Watts analysis, which was amazing and unlike any other commentary out there concerning that BTW.... So as you can imagine at that time I thought "put the shovel down" had a whole nuther meaning. Thanks for clearing that up.:) Also wanted to say, your advise and help goes way beyond substance addictions. For instance, we are empty nesters, really need to sell our house but can't muster up the "courage" for lack of a better word. Your wise words here could be applied to our situation in many ways. Something needs to be done, quite making excuses and do it, right? Really makes me think. Thanks!

Hi Amber- I love you site and I share it with my peers and sponsees. May I suggest making your vocals a bit louder? I work in audio and you are just a bit soft. Use your drum stinger at the beginning to set your level. Thank you thank you for all you do!!! ❤️

Excellent video Amber!
I have seen this and all 10 and many many more are soo true!!
At first the addict/Dry Addict is on a "Mission" then the addict/dry addict is on a "Cloud" which includes the ridiculous "Love Bombing" and then.."Crash!!"
The issue that keeps the Dry Addict stuck is The Massive Ego( False-Positive) which is totally out of this universe, further out then "The Twilght Zone!"
Especially the Dry Addict who is in total Refusal of Real Self Major Denial and automatic defense mechanisms of Addicted Self that keeps the addict/Dry Addict stuck in their "Dirty Bag of Tricks" of Themselves and lying lying lying..to themselves and others all the way!!
It is so so sad and negatively dark!! Truly is!!
The addict/Dry Addict must bring themselves through their porthole in all humble " Truth..the Real Truth..let's get real and genuine to put the shovel down forever 24/7 365 no matter what!!
Then and only then will the addict/Dry Addict Really understand and Recognize Self with a ton of Self Responsibilty in every way becoming a ...
"" Recovering Alcoholic in every way!
In all humble honesty!! No Ego's Here!!!""
Am I in the right ballpark Amber?
Thank you very much for this and all you do.💞👍👍🖖.

It took months like over 6 months to feel better last time, I think it's coz alcoholics use all their dopamine / blow up neurotransmitter s, can take a year or more, healthy eating and exercise and socializing helps to fix faster
