Are Women to Blame for Hookup Culture?

preview_player
Показать описание
Women are told by the culture to hook up with every guy, study a dumb major, not get married after graduation, continue to sleep around, and get a job as a middle manager at a widget factory. By the time these women come to regret these poor decisions, they’ve passed their child-bearing years and cry into TikTok. Does this make them responsible for hookup culture, though?

Men do use women. But women do use men also

It takes two to tango... Both participate in hook up culture, so both are responsible. Either party has the power to say no.

Gen x weighing in, young women have been told since the 70’s that they don’t need men. My mom was 21 in 69, everything in counter culture pushed towards free sex. She grew up in small town Florida in a close multi generational family, and I was born in 73 to an unwed mother, she didn’t want it that way and took full responsibility for her decision instead of exercising her new found right to abortion. I have watched the destruction of the family unit on tv and in movies my whole life. I remember when Lucille Ball being shown pregnant on tv was controversial! We have moved very far very fast since television has been around.

Regular 28 yr old woman, living at home with my parents, because the economy is so horrible, but saving money, while having a 9 to 5 job. Pearl, if you interviewed me, you'd discover that I'm not a h*e, I'm just a decent, hard working woman with good morals.
My goal is to purchase a house one day.

That’s a clear case of someone actually agreeing with the other person but deciding to argue/oppose them just for the sake of being a pain in the ass.

I honestly think a huge part that most people miss out on is the fact that there is the silent majority that don't actually do anything these people are saying. Most that are not posting on tik tok, having private Instagram accounts and just living their lives don't sleep around, don't hook up constantly, aren't being flown out to places aren't demanding men pay for everything or expecting certain things of women. It's easy to generalize but I really don't think the silent majority are as bold as people are making them out to be. I really don't. Also it's not "women's fault" and it's not "men's fault" they are a product of their upbringing so while yes in simple terms it is their sole responsibility each for the things they do, yes I agree, you cannot say it also wasn't what they have been told growing up or seeing literally everywhere, movies, music, media, magazine, books you name it. It's more complex so a blame game is a very rudimentary and and frankly silly way of looking at things.

Pearl~ “Women should take responsibility for who they sleep with. Men at rent forcing them”

Also Peal~ “ You have these women chasing these men around to get them to sleep with them”

Sooo women should take responsibility for who they sleep with, but when men do it then it’s totally because the women were “chasing” them down 🤔 How about men and women take responsibility for their actions Pearl.

Pearl is right, we need to stop Infantilizing women. They make their own choices, no one forces them to sleep around, and when/if they regret it later, they have no one to blame but themselves.

👉👉👉👉 "Let's refrain from infantilizing women. With equal rights come equal responsibilities. It's time to stop making excuses for them."

Every Daily Wire talking head refuses to hold women accountable for their actions.

Who would have thought it’d be controversial in 2024 to say both genders in part make decisions based on the influences around them as well as are responsible for their individual choices?

Michael is right, the culture pushes this constantly and now those who cut corners are praised. But women do need to be accountable. But if taught from birth that any behavior is ok and cute it takes a strong person to walk away from that culture.

I find this fascinating because I do agree that both men and women have an obligation towards moral responsibility and must be held accountable for their actions. But, within this conversation, I see Michael being a little harder on men and Pearl is being a little harder on women. I think it's natural since the gender they feel most relatability towards is their own. But honestly, no one is "more responsible", there are cultural influences pressuring both men and women towards indulging in their more basic pleasures, and we have to acknowledge their existence, all of us, and be responsible for our own choices. Education is key.

We are taught as a society, 'Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll is the cool road to take.
Feminism teaches us that women need to behave as men to be equal and that behaviour is the only consequence of itself.
So we end up with a victimhood society where it's always someone else's fault and responsibility, and so anything goes.
In this, men and women are equal.

It was weird that Michael did not get her point on women looking to hook up with successful rich men

Both.
If men didn't reward it, .women wouldn't.
And women shouldn't out of respecting themselves.
But unfortunately too many men reward those type of women especially if they are attractive.
Other women see this and do so for attention.

Been married for 15 years and have 5 children I got lucky my husband is the best he works hard for us and I do the cooking cleaning and homeschool wouldn't change it. I don't feel sorry for men or women. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. Think before acting I don't get why it's so hard to do 🤷
