One trick is to visualize a steering wheel in front of you. When you turn left, push right forward and left back as you are turning a wheel. Go forward means pushing forward, pull back to go back. Could also be compared to a horse.

I was gifted a big Great Dane commercial mower, had to do some work on it but I've got it working well . a learning curve after using a old Snapper rider. You are right on first time driving a zero turn, just take your time, learn the controls and stay off hills! I can cut what took 3.5 hours on the old Snapper down to 1 hour and 15 minutes and I'm a newbe!

Just took delivery of my new Toro zero turn timecutter today. Thanks for the tips. I’ve always enjoyed mowing the lawn and actually found it therapeutic. As I’ve aged a two hour job turned into a half day ordeal in this Florida heat. Looking forward to mowing again!

Great video, I just got my JD zero turn. My best advice to any new rider is to remember to keep repeating, Pull back to stop! Repeating it keeps it top of m8 d just like I tell new motorcycle riders when learning counter straying, is “push right to go right and push left to go left.

You are over thinking the steering... Hold you hands out in front of like you are riding an imaginary bike. Now turn right, then left. Notice the position of the hands on each turn. It will be the same when you drive the zero turn. Also to help you drive straight don't look down directly in front of you, focus of something at the end of your run and drive (aim) towards it.

Best analogy for driving a ZT is maneuvering a shopping cart. The pushing/pulling motions of each hand when steering the cart are exactly the same.

Just wanted to say... My wife does a lot of the mowing and she said that it's like riding a horse. (With the steering) Also remember that, when new, the hydraulic system is (tight). It will loosen up. Enjoyed your video.

I have a Bad Boy 42" Rambler with a 22hp Kohler. You better wear hearing protection when operating this particular model as it's very loud. I don't have earmuffs, I use the EAR foam ear plugs. They work very well and makes mowing enjoyable.
I bought my ZTR in mid Sept 2022 (it's Dec 29 now). Due to a long period of little rain I've only put around 3 hrs on the unit and still haven't mastered controlling it as much as I would like.
