My grandfather, Grover Jacob Rademaker, was a member of the 20th Engineers and a survivor of the sinking of the Tuscania. Thank you for this video.

thank you steve, as you know, my dad was on this ship when it was torpedoed. he survived, even though the life boats were frozen to the ship. he wore a heavy army coat and boots, and couldn't swim. it was a miracle. and until the day he died at 86, he always took sponge baths, never in a tub. sincerely, judi bartholomew {bayliss, daughter of frank w. bayliss. }

Thank you for this thoughtful and daring effort. My great uncle Garth Xavier survived this sinking, although it seems most of the soldiers around him did not. Salute to the general people on land who helped the soldiers and sailors.

Thank you so much for the tribute. My grandfather was on that ship. He survived and went on to fight in the war. I hope to visit Islay someday.

My grandfather, William Henry Venable, was lucky to survive the sinking.  The men on his lifeboat were picked up the next day by the trawler The Elf King and taken to a hospital in Larne, Ireland.  Steve Schwartz has done a fantastic job of keeping memories of this tragedy of war alive.
