I wish we could just go back in time 30 years when clothes were made to last

I think water consumption can be a very misleading statistic. Plastic production pollutes water as well, but if grown properly the water AND cotton return to the earth eventually.

Why the sudden white washing of synthetic fabrics? Nobody is saying that clothes made of natural fibres are perfect but they are definitely better than clothes made of polyester

You know what, if I have to, I'd prefer to have a wonky seam over contributing to pollution. Cotton will biodegrade if left in the landfill. All cellulose and animal hair based fabric will biodegrade. Polyester will take thousands of years, if it even ever degrade, because to be honest, we're not even sure. I'm not saying I don't own anything made from polyester. I own some things that I have for years, that I bought before I had that mindset. But I just can't justify adding to mountains of trash in the landfill that will be there for millennia out of pure vanity. And I swap clothing with my family and friends, but one day it will end up in landfill, someone will throw it away. We already have so much microplastics in our food and blood because of that, do we really need more? If all this polyester would get recycled then it would be kinda okay, but it will never be. And it's just way too hot. Even high quality polyester or acrylic will be always hotter than cotton or linen, because it just has different properties as a fabric.

Remember when clothes that my mom bought God knows where, were actually of good quality and would last 10 years. It wasn't a famous brand or natural fabric and it didn't cost a lot of money, but the quality was better

I have always paid close attention to fit but not to the actual sewing stitches. Thanks for the education!!!

No one ever said natural fabrics garnements were necessarily better made and most of us would pick wonky seams over microplastic sheddings if we had to choose anyways.

NGL I’m questioning the direction you seem to be taking lately and I’m suspecting it has to do with your upcoming clothing line. I’m just gonna state the obvious and what countless ppl have said before me, WE DON’T WANT SYNTHETICS, please listen to us and do what’s right for your brand, credibility, your audience and the planet.

Let’s not mistake the two things. What does poor construction have to do with the type of fabric? Nothing. A poorly constructed garment is bad no matter what it is made of. Let’s not conflate the too things.

It's not always good quality sewing but it's much better for the environment and our body

Will you be open to the public with your responsible material sourcing when you launch your own clothing line?

With content like yours, there might be a lot of pressure to have the perfect stitching, the perfect fabric, and a quality end product, I hope that's something you're ready for

I know her clothing line is going to be full of polyester with the 180 she's done lately 😂

This still isn't addressing the comment. Polyester is terrible for the environment.

But she's coming out with her own line of clothing and has shared that it'll have lots of polyester. So she'll never be honest about this kind of thing.

Would be good to see how you shop second hand.

You have lost your credibility. i subscribed because i liked your honesty but ever since you announced that you are starting your own brand your approach has taken a full 180 degree turn, you can't tell people polyester (viscose, acrylic, etc., ) is bad and then come out here and say that it is necessary for some designs, if you truly care about quality and wellbeing you work on designs that do not require harmful fabric production. I no longer see the sincerity in you, however, i wish you the best with your brand

P.s. it is not the quality of the above shown product that is at fault but rather the artistry

I already run warmer and get way too warm when I wear polyester or other things like that. Cotton or rayon or viscose are usually better I’ve noticed.

Badly sewn cotton or badly sewn polyester? I'll take the cotton!

I don’t think anyone ever made the claim that all garments made of natural fabrics are well made.

I can appreciate the use polyester and ultimately the problem with polyester as such a common textile is more of a problem with overproduction and overconsumption, a problem we stilldeal with no matter the fiber. At the end of the day I would still rather buy a good quality polyester dress that will last me years than to buy multiple low quality cotton garments that will fall apart and receive condescension from people that tell me it's meant to fall apart because "cotton won't last forever" as if the problem isn't everything but the material.
I'm reminded of probiotic sodas and juice cleanses with these conversations, as if making the right purchases will ease the "guilt" or "shame" of consumerism.
I do crochet and sometimes man made materials like acrylic is just the best option because of color selection and consistency, volume needed, monetary and geographical accessibility and allergies, and that's just evaluation of it as a material, as a medium of artistic creation, it behaves differently than natural fibers (it can keep shape in ways that wool and cotton won't without the need for starching or complex blocking, it's less likely to shrink).
The problems that become talking points are solved not with total abstinence of man materials, but mindful consumption of things beyond necessity, but that takes consistent self work, and standards for oneself and not to seek others to fulfill.

We seek out natural fibers so that we are not putting toxic plastic on our skin…

Can you please make a video about the different uses of different fibres? That would be so educational. x
