Man, it's oddly very comforting to know that at the end of the player's journey with 8, both the player and the gang saw the same sunrise we do in real life. It touched me and formed a bond that felt real. Like an online friend you can come to with any troubles weighing on your mind. Not only that, I didn't outright know it at the time but when 8 looked back and smiled at the camera, for me it changed the context of everything I did as the player in an instant. I went from being an unseen observer to being an ally who stuck with 8 and saw through a colossal undertaking with a friend. That moment suddenly made me go from calmly tearing up through the sunrise to really holding back the waterworks from coming out full force. It's oddly reassuring that despite the natural disasters and everything humanity did to the Earth/itself in the lore, at least that part of nature's beauty is untouched even 12, 000 years later.
