This is spot on. ‘Difficult conversations’ should only be ‘uncomfortable’ (not ‘difficult) at worst if you, as a leader, have been communicating with and coaching the other person in a timely, fair, and constructive manner. We owe our team members the consideration of those 3 components because when we don’t, we cheat ourselves as well as the team members. These are more important than the ‘techniques’ you use.
