Maui fires: Death toll climbs to at least 53 people

Yes the Banian tree is there but 53 people to date have lost their lives, the museum too! historic Lahaina burned down, I’ve been there before it breaks my heart 😢

This will sadly flush more long time Hawaii residents to the mainland, we need to help poor local residents make sure than can get rehoused in their home town, easing up on zoning codes and restrictions will help, but i fear the plan will be to increase restrictions by scapegoating this on the people and their simply built homes, when in reality its the big land owners that control the vacant land around the communities that are partly to blame, for bad management..
