No where in the Bible are we told it is necessary to confess to a “priest “ just to ask forgiveness from the Lord .

When we confess in private with God, you tend to repeat that sin. But when you go to a priest out loud I believe you tend not to repeat it

Why would I want to go to a middle man who may “ retain “ my sin! Jesus won’t “ retain” it if we confess sincerely to Him! Timothy 2:5

Your saying that when you confess your sin to Jesus your that Jesus doesn't have the final say, by this example. By this example, people, who are imperfect and don't have near the grace of God, have the final say. Jesus forgives all who give there hearts to him. He doesn't just forgive those who priests forgive.

If you confess to a priest, God can still choose to not forgive you. I do not believe a priest can guarantee your sins are forgiven because God has the final say either way.
