When you sing in your native language, that is a sense of cultural pride and identity. Never ever lose that!

I’m Mexican, I have eternal respect and praise for the Irish and their beautiful homeland. You didn’t have to and yet you sided with us and gave your life when the invaders came to enslave us. God bless Ireland and Mexico, may our nations be free from the invaders! 🇲🇽🤝🇮🇪

The "gallant darling" mentioned in this song is believed to be Prince Charles Edward Stuart, who led the failed Catholic Jacobite revolution in Scotland in 1745.

I really hate the fact that such a great language is becoming extinct.

I'm Estonian, but a big part of my heart belongs to the Celts. I just visited Wales and I'm learning Welsh right now. Next time, I'm planning to visit Ireland, and I'll definitely learn Irish one day as well.

We, Estonians, have survived for centuries and kept our language intact despite everything. Please don't let your precious language die either! Éirinn go brách!

my nan is part irish and i have many relatives in ireland and i learn irish gaelic at the age of 6 and i found this song about 2 years ago and learned the whole song and sung it for my year11 music exam i was so surprised when my teacher and other members of staff entered the room singing along (they knew that i was singing for family members so they learned the song) it was a great performance from all and did make me very emotional but it just shows that there is kind people out there. i did a distinction grade for that performance.

My five time great grandfather left Ireland during the famine in the 1800's. Three generations later in America our mother tongue was rarely spoken. On my great grandmother death bed she whispered words I did know or understand. Then called me her gallant son, possibly thinking I was her son Joseph. It wasn't until two days when I was thinking about her that this song popped up. Now I understand what she said and why. My gallant sons like my father my brother and myself and my grand uncle Joseph Morris, we went off to fight for what we believed

This song is absolutely GORGEOUS. My ancestors immigrated to the US from Ireland during the famine and i can just FEEL their pride in this song

This song could have been written for me. I lost my oldest son 11 months ago. 23, US Army enlisted, father of my wonderful granddaughter, but a random, rare cancer took him over a very short fight. 💚

Love every moment, every day, because sometimes, just sometimes, you never get another chance. Sliántè, and God bless you all.
