Pandemic pushing millions back into poverty

Over the past few decades, millions of people worldwide pulled their way out of poverty — but now, the coronavirus pandemic is pulling them back. New York Times South Asia correspondent Maria Abi-Habib spoke to CBSN's Reena Ninan about the stunning reversal in fortune for people around the world.

For the rich with fat bank accounts there's no problem. The poor are the hardest hit.

But what about the homeless and impoverished people in America? This infuriates me to no end. She sits up there and talks about the us spending money but we are suffering in America with joblessness and homelessness. What are you talking about?

When my career an income crashed an my health got worse in Jan 2014. I am on total disability. Went from 33, 000 a year with full benefits down to 965 A month. So I am spending hours a day trying to sale most of my belongings. Having to decide between health or survival 🙁

p.s. Potatoes harvested over there are for their markets. USA has Idaho potatoes, it's not cost effective to ship them from India to the USA
