Again, I've had both since the late 80's. Apeface come with just one gun and that "shield".

The G1 toy in gorilla mode, had a very "hollow" back, with just the jet cockpit. But this does pay homage to the robot mode back pack - it was huge in the G1 toy.

I remember getting an Apeface from a yard sale as a kid...Only he was missing his head...Ended up making one out of clay...Wasn't as good as the real thing.

What you didn't show that the body from Plane to Ape mode has to collapse halfway, which you clearly did do in a cut away (at 13:50) You say that the legs do fold in to far in for the alignment.

Mine just came in today and I've spent the last 3 hours working on him... More or less trying to get him posed, on my shelf and looking good... But that's more due to my OCD and limited shelf space. I'm finally happy with my setup, and I do like the figure. I didn't have any issues with the hands, but I wasn't able to get the weapon tabbed into his right hand, the left hand worked just fine. My biggest issue now involves the head, it is too large in robot mode, and it does stand out in my collection... Word on the street is that a new head is on the way? If that's the case I just might keep him rather than switch to the Make Toys version.

I'd say his ape mode is stronger than his robot mode, which I didn't see coming. Still, one of my favorites from G1.
