Schuberth C4 Pro helmet review

You may, or conceivably may not, be aware of the history of the Schuberth C4. When Schuberth first launched the helmet at the beginning of 2018 it was heralded as a significant step forward in flip-lid helmet design. It was a sportier helmet than the old C3 Pro, and it came with a truly innovative plug-and-play comms. system that used bone technology rather than a traditional microphone. But it was released into the market before it was ready. There were so many problems with the helmet that, in early 2019, Schuberth released an updated version called the C4 Pro.

In this review, Chris talks to us about the issues with the old helmet, and he shows us what Schuberth has done on the Pro to rectify those problems. Now we didn’t really want to do a full review of the helmet until we had lived with it for a while. Well, we’ve pretty much had 12 months with it now, and we think we have a good handle on it.

The good news for all those who quite fancied the C4 Pro is that we like it. It’s now a very good helmet, the helmet that it should perhaps always have been. We have no hesitation recommending it.

Head-shape wise, it won’t work for everybody, and because we cannot change the cheekpads on the C4 Pro it’s one of those helmets that either fits or doesn’t. If it doesn’t, you may have to look at a Shoei Neotec; it’s got a more oval fit and of course we can customise the fit with different cheekpads and headliners.

If you’re in the market, you should hear what our man has to say. It could save you a lot of time on the internet trawling the forums for clueless opinions. And once you’ve read what the chap in the cap has to say, you might not need to waste quite as much time visiting equally clueless retailers!

I’m wearing a Schuberth at the moment and it was thanks to Chris and his team that I picked exactly the right helmet for my riding and got the right size. Got a price match discount too! Couldn’t recommend them too highly. Expert advice & excellent customer service.

Thank you, a very informative review.
I have one on order and am just hoping that it fits my head shape and size, since this will be my first Schuberth helmet. If it doesn't fit I will probably shave my head down until it does fit !
A very well researched review, very eloquently presented. Well done !

Have had C4 since 2019 and this review I feel is bull, considering C4 - I have driven with this helmet for some 50000 km, in rain or shine . On the road for 8 week, riding when it was pissing down in Britain, in gail winds in Norway. Never had a drop of water in it, never had a fog issue, since my helmet come with the pinlock originally, and from my dealer they said that that standard on the helmet. Intercom - was plug and play Put in the 2 units - pair up and forget it. On my Euro-tour 32000 km (I know not very long) in 8 weeks I lisend to my raidio nearly when ever I sat on my bike, phoned home and that work OK up to 50-60 miles an hour. I will in the strongest terms say that the helmet is better than you give it credit for.

Thank you for the review. I will not purchase a new C4 or the Shoei Neotec because there is no longer a "D" ring chin strap. I use those "D" rings to secure the helmet on my motorcycle.

Great and honest review of the C4/C4 Pro. Thanks for that. I have a C4 and I agree 100% regarding it's faults, just a shame they did not get it right first-time.
My question is: can the inferior pinlock of the C4 be replaced with the pinlock from the C4 Pro? Also is there a quick fix for the loose battery issue? Thanks very much and keep up the good work.

What happened to the original version of this video I spent 10 minutes writing information only for the video to disappear!! Great review as usual

All sounds and looks great, I have and have used every day for the last 6 months a C4 PRO . In the rain it condensates because it does not have enough ventilation . So you crack the visor open very slightly and this helps but it then leaks down the inside of the visor. The coms well ! very neat and easy to fit unfortunately this does not extend to its use which is virtually impossible due to its location and button presses even with gloves off. You need to spend another £80+ on a remote control which helps no end. Quiet well my old Arai Quantum is quieter.

So it's fair to say that Schuberth "fogged up" with the

Just wondering if anyone knows if the C4 Pro can be connected to a Sena 20s (if you have an existing comms)?
Thanks.

I ordered a C3 Pro based on the Revzilla size chart. It was a terrible mistake. However, Revzilla is a great co when it comes to returning purchased items. I wear size Med in Arai yet Large in C3 Pro was so tight that it was unbearable. I guess I need to go to XL in Schuberth. Non adjustable Cheek Pads is totally unacceptable.

I wish you were in Iowa. Helmets are difficult to try on here because few dealers carry much.

I tried the C4 and the C4 pro and it felt like the C4 was longer front to back than the C4 pro. I was disappointed in the C4 pro's fit because I have a intermediate to long oval head. It is a nice helmet. It just isn't for me.

Exactly why does the carbon have a shorter comms range? Great review.
