i use rx10 iii as my main camera for youtube on recommendation from you Ted. it gets the job done, i dont use any of the bells and whistles.. mainly just shoot at the widest angle, most open aperture, as appropriate. the fact it doesnt give me any problems makes it the best camera i've owned yet, so I probably won't upgrade to the IV.

I am excited for this particular RX10. I may take a chance and buy it. All of that AF stuff will make this an exciting birding camera.

One of my favorite photography channels. Your videos are very well made and have a great content. The joke about the record button was hilarious! Keep up the great work!

Looks a beast of a camera. I looked at the RX10 mk3 at the photography show last year and that was pretty good. For me the Pros are; the Zeiss lens (with filter thread), 4K video & slow motion Full HD, phase detection AF, the 24fps burst mode, Touch AF & weather resistance. The Cons are; No built-in ND filters (Panasonic FZ2500/2000 has them), the high price, I wish for a longer optical zoom (for wildlife etc) & I would have preferred a fully articulating screen.

like, all they need is a neutral density filter (built in), a faster wide aperture (for close up blurry pictures), something that helps with anamorphic simulating (like some crop guides) *very minor*, and probably a Battery Grip or a full articulating OLED screen or something

The overheating issues are chronic. even when shooting 1080p on a hot day I have had the RX100-3 shut down for extended periods of time. It's not the camera you use if your there to get a really important shot.

I'm just glad I myself wasn't drinking coffee when you said that!  😜

I think the RX10 mk2 was designed more with serious video shooters in mind, people who prefer having the constant aperture and built in ND filters. The mk3 and 4 definitely seem to be more stills oriented and would be especially good for folks wanting an all in one package. Personally, I'm still more than happy with my mk2.

I do own a Rx10 mk2 and love it still as a b-cam or treval camera. You made a very good point about the build-in ND filter function and it's really nice to have if you tend to shoot video in Slog. It's a shame they took away the feature in the following models. However, the Slog-2 footage I shot from RX10 mk2 does seem slightly "greener" than other Sony models(compare to A6500/A7sII). Wondering if you feel the same when correcting in post?

I was close to the rx10 series when I was looking for a 4K camera, then decided to move to the Panasonic Lumix lx100. Have you ever tried it?

I own the RX10 mk2 and mk3 and use them primarily for recording interviews. With the announcement of the mk4, I think the mk2 is gonna be a steal when they price drop it to clear inventory. My primary complaint on the mk3 is the auto focusing hunts way more than the mk2, so I hope the improved AF will help with face detection. Now I just wish they'd make the LCD rotate and flip out...

It seems the over heating issues can be mitigated by using an external power source and external recorder. So what if they add cooling fins tied to the processor, SD card slot, and battery?

Sony lacks just one thing. An Articulated LCD Screen.

24-600mm not 100, and with clear image zoom it goes 1200mm

Hey,

Thanks.

There are rumors of a upcoming RX10 V. Was wondering what people could expect from this awarded Swiss Knife Bridge?
This bridge is praised by a lot of photographers, reviewers, users/Owners:
- The new menu system like for the A7SIII? Screen fully touched for focusing and navigating the menu.
- More video specs?
...

What do you think?

Was wondering as well How other makers could update their bridges 1" sensor as well:
> Panasonic Lumix FZ2500 / FZ2000 / FZH1 >> a popular Hybrid bridge as well.
> Canon Powershot G3 X?
> Why not a Nilkon Coolpix 1" sensor like the cancelled DL24-500?

I have the feeling we will see soon or later a RX10M5, probably a FZ2500M2, not sure for the Canon & Nikon.

What do you think.

A99 II apparently does NOT have over heating issues.  I think it still has buffer issues. Since I don't own one I have no personal experience just what I've read and seen on YouTube.

What about the focal length of 600 mm. Which specs are these translated to full frame in terms is ISO, and aperture performance?
