In this video, I preview the "newly announced" Nikon Df fx dslr. This new camera from Nikon is going back to the classic and retro days with its newer camera housing but does the guts of the camera justify the price? Is there anything new? It seems like it could be a great traveling camera.

Your right, good point on the af speed. Plus the 600 tended to hunt more.

Coming from my d700 and if the price was lower, it would be an amazing camera. highly agree.

Apparently it's even smaller, thinner and lighter. Thats what would throw this off. But your right, this is kind of like the 610 in some ways but yea its the D4 sensor that makes the camera worth it to a few.

Thats another huge issue, the focusing system with the 39 points. But your right, I do feel the Df would be great in low light because of it's D4 sensor.

You and a lot of others are feeling the exact same. I agree.

Yea if they hit the crop sensor market I think it would be a hit, agreed.

Have you ever seen a Nikon F, like the FM3a? The special feature is the lack of special features, specifically that top plate.

Agreed but I am one to wait and see how things actually perform in the real world. This camera is great for two things, hopefully, low light and its light weight.

I love the idea behind this camera. I also gave in to the hype, but I think alot of nikon users will wait a year or two for that price to drop. I just purchased a d610 and besides the ``D4 sensor`` I dont really see why any working photographer would purchase a lighter smaller vintage dslr.

I couldnt agree more. But thats their selling point besides the camera housing. "Well it has the D4 sensor at half the price..." Like come on!

I agree with you. Good preview. I like the "Throwback" style. But, their isn't enough to justify the $2, 800 price tag. This is an emotional appeal to target those who have used film cameras. They should've at least thrown in built-in Wi-fi.

Whats up with the af points, , trust me I hve d7000 has a 39af I only used 9af and boom, , real deal on this DF iso and the + fx sensor right

I'd say 2, 100 would make perfect sense, right around there.

The whole purist thing does make me laugh a bit. But I get it totally. Plus the pro end cameras shouldn't have the consumer junk in them anyway. But as you even said they did leave in some, so its like why Nikon lol.

The D4 sensor for that price isnt bad, honestly. But its a specialized camera, I even said it could be a fantastic travel camera because of its weight.

Thanks. But I see why they didnt put in the wifi because of the whole "simple" thing but at the price point....why not.

I started with Film Camera's. There was no digital when i went to school to learn Photography.. So been there, Done that... For $2700 Id rather get the Nikon D800.. The versatile camera.. Shooting still Shots and Video with ease....

But if you look it at though, there really isn't a lack of buttons. The dials are badass but it's still a little cluttered for what they are pushing the "simple" design.
