Busy Philipps wrote in her memoir "This Will Only Hurt A Little" about an incident on the set of "Freaks and Geeks" where James Franco mistreated her, and even though it had been aired in public prior to the release of her book, she received a massive backlash.

I am glad she is saying this. It's so refreshing to hear women being angry and honest in the media

She makes a really interesting point about how, even in stories with her's which aren't about men or only include men for context, the reaction is always about the men's perspective or what the men thought. Even if it's a man abusing a woman, the public focuses on what HE did and why HE did it, not what SHE went through or how SHE overcame it or what it meant for HER. The man ends up being what the woman is remembered for.

That, to me, is why this issue isn't as simple as "stop being sexist!"

And then most of the comments here are solely about James Franco. I'm happy for Busy. Her show is hilarious and sweet and very women-centric. Very refreshing!

What part of “I like James, we’re good now” do you people not understand 😂

Actually, it’s “and don’t be funnier than the guy, but if this fails it’s because you’re not funny enough.”

It sounds like a lot of the blame is with the director. If one character is going to hit another, even lightly, in a script, they need to talk to the actors, ahead of time, and make sure everybody is comfortable. Its crazy not to.

I can't say I'd walk away from that situation and then turn around and be his friend later on. That was not cool. If you feel like you had to do that in order to be at peace then I guess I can understand that for personal development.

This is why i separate artist from the person. I never really want to meet a celebrity. I dont want autographs. Enjoy their films. Enjoy their music.

Her book was incredible. Some of the things she discussed in the book gave me a new perspective on my own personal experiences. As well as how to better understand those hard moments and find peace in them today. Thanks Busy for that 🧡

I hate how every time celebrities or other famous people write their memoirs everyone just wants the instant dirt. They don't want the inspiration, life lessons, and hard work perseverance stories. 'What did she say about him? What juicy stuff did she say about her? Ooooohh, this is gonna be good! Now I have my new Youtube video clickbait topic! I mean why write a stupid boring book about yourself without throwing some shade? OMG, tell me who did what! I need to know the details!"

Can we all just acknowledge her beauty (inside/out) and how funny & talented Busy is?

So funny how Dax Shepard tries to emulate these talks on his podcast but he won’t let his guests speak!

I hope that she had a better time on Dawson's Creek.
