this is the most beautifully shot show. Its unreal how amazing it looks. I loved season 1 and 2 was even better

I do not understand how a professional can be that blind when it comes to Marco Polo. The idea is, the hole setting is seen through Marco's eyes and by that you see his fascination with this strange culture. That's why the other characters are made to seem more interesting and exciting while he is hanging on along for the ride. He has heroic moments but I think that's understandable because he's the main character and also helps to coagulate the story with him being there.

Disagree with you regarding Lorenzo Richelmy, Don't think his character is flat, and he delivers well. He's part of the reason I watch the show

I think the problem with Marco is that he's a flawless character. He's uncorruptable, and too right, if that makes sense. He seems like a robot at times and not human, but not always. His love for Kokachin, while you know it's there, it's not thaat compelling, because they just didn't have enough screentime together..
