“Arcadia” represents an unobtainable ideal that we all create in certain situations. In this case it focuses on a post-relationship situation where you want to go back to that comfortable space that the relationship represented, but things have changed and that place doesn’t exist anymore. It doesn’t stop us from striving for it even though it might be out of reach.

This song is about a failed relationship: it shows how we go from idealizing every little detail about someone, falling in love with each detail and unique thing about that person. The song reflects on how when the relationship started, they idealized each other. They felt like they “came full circle”, like yin and Yang; they completed each other and made each other feel whole. Everything made sense: this is displayed through an array of objects which imply harmony, order and balance. Two things entwined in a perfect circle, like yin and Yang or two rings tied into a knot. A perfectly folded paper crane. However, as the relationship began to fall apart, all we catch are rapid flickers of what once was. There is closeups of the idealized visions of their earlier relationship, played out as the couple focuses more intensely on the images of their love’s idealistic path. they stopped seeing each other. All they had was the lost sight of what they once had. They tried to make it work out even as their relationship fell apart. They hoped desperately and quietly that the other person would reach out to them, but they went down together. There’s something so painfullly familiar about sleeping in someone else’s shirt—when they’re not there.

This song was on my ear when i was in an unfamiliar city where i was taking a bus to a stranger's home i met 3 days ago. I still remember that 2014 summer. And to this day, i remember this song from time to time, it's on my memory box playlist so i will remember it fondly for many more years. It's a song that somehow touches to my soul every time i listen to it. Such a geeat masterpiece 👏

I bought the album for this 3 years ago after hearing Arcadia for the first time. To this day it is still my all time favourite song! Every time i hear it i feel like i'm hearing it for the first time all over again, which is something i never thought music could do to me. Thank you Danny for making such a wonderful masterpiece.
