Claude Monet (French) geboren op 14 November 1840. Monet is overleden op 5 December (1926) Monet is founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting. The term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant).

Early life
Claude Monet was born on 14 November 1840 on the 5th floor of 45 rue Laffitte, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. He was the second son of Claude Adolphe Monet and Louise Justine Aubrée Monet, both of them second-generation Parisians. On 20 May 1841, he was baptized in the local parish church, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, as Oscar-Claude, but his parents called him simply Oscar. He signed his juvenilia "O. Monet Despite being baptized Catholic, Monet, later on, became an atheist.
In 1845, his family moved to Le Havre in Normandy. His father wanted him to go into the family grocery business, but Monet wanted to become an artist. His mother was a singer. On 1 April 1851, Monet entered Le Havre secondary school of the arts. Locals knew him well for his charcoal caricatures, which he would sell for ten to twenty francs. Monet also undertook his first drawing lessons from Jacques-François Ochard, a former student of Jacques-Louis David. On the beaches of Normandy in about 1856/1857, he met fellow artist Eugène Boudin, who became his mentor and taught him to use oil paints. Boudin taught Monet "en plein air" (outdoor) techniques for painting.[7] Both received the influence of Johan Barthold Jongkind.
On 28 January 1857, his mother died. At the age of sixteen, he left school and went to live with his widowed childless aunt, Marie-Jeanne Lecadre.

Monet lived at the right time and place for his impressionistic birth paintings, he was soon imitated and even today there are good painters who copy his works and are as good as he was but to late to be famous as he is. The first in every thing get the honors!

Yes, very beautiful!!! He is one of my favorite painters or artists! if not my favorite! I think partly because he is French, and I have a thing for all things French! Plus I love the sound of his name, Claude Monet! And I love water and ponds and streams, lakes, etc., and I love lily pads/flowers, as it seems Claude Monet did! And I love flowers and color, the way he did! And I’ve also had the opportunity to paint at least one oil painting, which gives me an appreciation even for all artists!!! I love impressionist painting, and he was one of the ultimate impressionist! Thank you!

Monet et ses nénuphars c'est inoubliable. Un chef d'oeuvre qui manque "Le petit chaperon rouge ". Merci pour les memoirs de France. Je suis enchantée de revoir encore la première étoile de impressionnisme.
