Great stuff... I am collecting information on A&NR so this is great for me. Doing research for a model layout. Living in Copenhagen, Denmark.

@texasrupert I go to Lufkin for different reasons bout 3 or 4 times a year. I always look when I go down. This time I got lucky. You dont hear them on the scanner channel cause their old school using hand signals the whole time

They still got #12 an alco and a GMDD center cab that is stored for Abbitini Consolidated Paper Mill. The GP38 was bought new that way in 1980. Most run at night and early morning. I live in Diboll and hear train horns all night.

@unkonshus From what I can tell, the ANR purchased the locomotive new. St. Louis and San Francisco (SLSF or 'Frisco') also used that style of nose light on almost all their diesels. Reserve Mining Company also used them on their diesels as well. There are/were a couple more but I can't remember who else.

Most of the time you see the SW1500 working the interchange .also the diamond at the ANR interlocker at MP120.5 has been removed so the eastside of the ANR isnt connected to the westside of the ANR .2000 and 1500 are the only engines they use they also have a bunch of 50' boxcars

Yeah, at first I suspected that the engine might have a SLSF or SP heritage but it was actually built new for the A&NR.

@Howard1939 Funny you mention that. The only early diesel geeps I seen with oscillating noselights was the old SP units. Maybe someone can enlighten us?

@dumbasscracker As far as I know, its the geep #2000 and the sw #1500. And they still use caboose on occassion

Wonder what the heritage of the loco is, reminds me of Texas-Mexican with short range fuel tanks.
