What about the rest of us who already took 3 jobs to pay off our student loans? I'm a progressive/liberal, and I don't think it's just to require anyone who already did that to subsidize others to receive that benefit. There should be a rule that if you yourself have already done the right thing and paid off your own loans -- sacrificing opportunity, working multiple jobs, etc. to do so -- that you can be exempt from paying off others' loans. That creates inequity. Either that -- or provide retroactive subsidies to the rest of us who paid off our loans already. Otherwise, this reeks of political self-serving motivation to garner votes from young people who otherwise are not galvanized to vote for Biden due to his elderly presence and poor foreign policy. It certainly does not inspire folks like me to vote for Biden, when he and his press secretary refuse to listen to our logical concerns on this topic. Many of us are suffering because of all that interest we worked so hard to pay off for so many years. Saying this does not make us heartless. It makes us logical.
