Karine Jean-Pierre announced as new White House press secretary

Karine Jean-Pierre has been announced as the new White House press secretary, succeeding Jen Psaki and becoming the first black and openly gay person to serve in the role.

Jean-Pierre, a political analyst, was Kamala Harris’s chief of staff during the vice-president’s presidential campaign in 2020 and served on Barack Obama’s campaigns in 2008 and 2012
