Skydiving was one of the most awesome experiences I've had. Bungee jumping scares me a little

As a rookie skydiver and bungee jumper I can fully agree. I tell everyone bungee jumping was waaayy more scarier then skydiving.
When skydiving tandem you are just there as a passenger it's easy and is just enjoyable not as scarey.
Forcing myself to jump off a bridge with a rope around my legs that you don't feel really made me feel freaked out and was a wild adrenaline rush.

Bungee jumping sucked the soul out of me, Sky diving was relaxing in comparison.

The opposite of my expectation

Very good summary.
I've done both twice and they are very different experiences.
My notes are
1) the sense of falling is visceral in a bungee jump. If you want to experience falling towards the ground in a safe manner this is the way. I always tell people skydiving feels more like being in a really scenic wind tunnel. The dead air comparison is one I'll make from now. The rush of wind in a skydive feels like you are floating and the fact the ground is so far away highlights that.
2) jumping with a professional instructor who makes the leap for you is much easier than standing on the edge of a drop and willingly throwing yourself off. For one you can ignore reality and close your eyes and you'll tumble out of a plane and soon balance out. For the other you have to be alert and actively jump. And on big bungee jumps that pull you back up you have to pull a rope or two and help in the process to get yourself back on the platform. There's no closing your eyes until someone else takes care of everything.
3) skydiving is more 'fun'. Bungee jumping is more adrenaline inducing.
4) skydive is better value per minute. A bungee jump is over in seconds and the whole process in mere minutes. A skydive lasts a while. You fall for much longer AND then glide around for minutes before landing.
5) the views are better in a skydive. If you do one pick a nice scenic place. For a bungee it barely matters.

I recommend skydiving to everyone. It's for everyone.
Bungee jumping I only recommend to crazy people who already have a screw loose. It's not for everyone.

Yeah skydiving was dope. You don’t get that rollercoaster free fall feeling at all. Bungee jump actually scares me. Lol

I did my first bungee jump a few days ago and it was awesome. I think I was more scared of bungee jumping than when i went skydiving. With bungee jumping it was up to me when I decided to jump, with skydiving the instructor decided for me 😂

Go sky riving. You feel the rush 1 time, then its the most beautiful ride to see the world like never before. Get out there asap. No fear!!! Face it!!!

The POV of the bungee jump gave me the illusion of falling in dead air, cause I’ve cliff jumped before and I had a similar feeling. It made my stomach turn for sure.

Bungee jumping looks so fun and so scary at the same time

went skydiving like over 10 years ago and its exactly how you describe. it was a really wild sensation jumping out and feeling the air against you. i jumped from 10.5K and the first few seconds the ground barely looked like it was getting any closer, it was really bizarre. I really want to try the bungee jump now. looks like a totally different experience.

I bungee jumped as a teen, the thing is the moment you jump, your brain immediately forgets that you are attached to anything. So for a few seconds you 100% think you will die....till the bungee catches you and you get the most amazing feeling of euphoria. You just stared death in the face and got pulled back from it.

Thank you for explaining that feeling in my stomach that I don't like I'm not scared of heights it's just that feeling that sucks. I'll chill by the pool order the appetizer mixed drinks while you get your adrenaline rush on❤😊

Definitely! With skydiving it’s wonderful because you can process it and be in absolute awe and amazement and you lose that fear. With bungee jumping it’s more nerve-racking BUT it helps with confidence because you initiated the jump not the professional skydiver strapped to your back because he’s jumping no matter what lol but the bungee jump is all YOU. You push yourself to do it which to me was much scarier!

I would love to do both but can’t afford either, one day I will do them but that’s not today

(Also it’s not today because I’m about to go to sleep😅)

I have wondered, but too scared to try.

On the free fall portion of roller coasters/water slides, my diaphragm locks up and I can't breathe.
On the Wild Eagle ride at Dollywood, i actually started to black out.

I'm not sure i would survive bungee or sky diving. 😢😂😭

(But I'm so curious!!!! And still do rides for fun. )

Such a good explanation! It's exactly like that 👌🏻

i don’t understand what y’all talking about - you 100% get “dead air” sensation when skydiving because that sensation has nothing to do with the air - It’s it the feeling of acceleration when free falling which causes that feeling. Tandem drops get this feeling much more so than single drops

I really liked her explanation. I was thinking of bungee jumping, but now I'm wondering if skydiving would be better for me. Or just high diving. Or surfing. Lol. Tame thrills.

The grammar addict in me wants to point out a pet peeve. You don't "get a pit in your stomach." That's not the expression. You can get a feeling of dread, or a sinking feeling, or a nauseated feeling "in the pit of your stomach." Your stomach IS the pit. You don't GET a pit in it. Unless you eat too much of a peach or cherry, I guess. 😂

I always cringe when someone says something like "It made me get a pit in my stomach." No, friends. Just no. I'm sorry for being a nerd.
