Thank you! I feel like an idiot now. I couldn’t figure out why it was so hard to hook the smoke detector onto the base. I went straight to that part of your video and see it’s because I didn’t have the spring loaded mechanism under the battery so it was in the way! OMG. I was ready to chuck this detector across the room. LOL. Thanks again for your clear easy to follow instructions.

last year I installed 550 smoke detector without using the red plugs and it works perfectly and it's solid too.

I didn't realize the plugs and screws were sitting inside the battery compartment, so I ended up using the plugs and screws from the previous smoke detector of a different brand. Nevertheless, the measurements of the previous smoke detector were not the same as the Kidde, so this video was a lot of help!

Great video. You make it look so easy. I have to install 3 smoke alarms plus a bathroom extraction fan. I feel at some point I will drop the drill on my head Lol.
