He turned 79 today Ole mick, and the stones are still touring the world. As we speak

Jay still can't wrap his mind around the fact that bands from back in the day weren't stuck in a box playing 1 sound of music like today. These are real musicians who can play any type of song.

That opening part must be one of the most famous intros in pop-rock music. The drums and yes, cowbell, are simply delicious.

“I met a gin-soaked barroom queen in Memphis”. Got to be the best first line in a song ever written! One of my faves from The Stones! ✌🏻❤️

Another great country-rock-sounding song from the Stones: “Dead Flowers.” It’s a fun one; I think you’ll like it.

It may sound surprising to hear a British band be influenced by American country music, but all of those guys back then in England were listening to every kind of American music you can think of. In fact, it was bands like the stones that introduced blues and country music to “sheltered” American kids who had never heard that stuff before. A kid from suburban Chicago had to hear a blues song from a band from London even though blues was being played in places 20 miles from him.

J & Amber, you'll love their "Angie", "Wild Horses" and "She's So Cold" . I saw them October 1997 . Great show!!

Those of us who grew up with The Stones: If we heard this on the radio, we would instantly know it was The Stones in the first note! Classic Stones song! The Stones are so versatile; this song is a mix of Rock, Blues, Country and Folk, with heavy emphasis on the Rock. By the way, probably their most "Southern" or "Country" sounding song is "Far Away Eyes"; another Stones treat.

The late, great Charlie Watts killing it on drums.

This is a dude who can't get over his real love... no matter how many "honkey tonk women" he has his way with. Gotta love the Stones old stuff.

Stones played rock, pop, blues, country, disco, funk and modern (80's) rock to name a few. They covered it all.

One of my fav Stones' songs, "Honky Tonk Women" was their 23rd chart hit, peaking @ #1 for 4 weeks in 1969 (it was their 5th #1 at that point). One of the best dance songs they ever did (that sleazy drum beat combined the swampy guitar & the cowbell slays). Guaranteed to get people dancing at a party.

Recommendation for next Stones song: "Brown Sugar" (1971) -- another classic dancer.

When I was a kid, the line “she blew my nose and then she blew my mind” blew my mind. It seemed like the sex, drugs & rock ‘n roll life that I was not living condensed into 10 words.

Love the older Stones music. Might be why you would not have recognized this as the Stones. Check out some more of their older music (my fave era of theirs): You Can't Always Get What You Want; 19th Nervous Breakdown; Heart of Stone; Play With Fire, and Get Off My Cloud. For a start... 😁❤️

One of Charlie Watts' coolest grooves with that cowbell ride!! Love it! So Iconic in the drum world!

Among the greatest lyrics of all time: "She blew my nose and then she blew my mind."

The Stones actually recorded some songs at the famous studio Muscle Shoals in Alabama. They were TOTALLY into southern rock and black delta blues. You just haven’t hit that side of them yet.

You guys should react to more The Rolling Stones…

"Brown Sugar", "Miss You", "Start Me Up", "Sympathy For The Devil", "Wild Horses", "Ruby Tuesday", "Angie", "Under My Thumb"

One of my favorites by the Stones. Definitely a "get up and shake your booty" tune :) Another couple of their Country flavored tunes that you may want to check out, "Far Away Eyes" and "Dead Flowers". The first is hilarious and the second is poignantly sweet.

I'm apoplectic that there are humans that have not heard this song. This is iconic. The riffing, the cowbell, the overall filthiness of the track is perfect. I never tire of this song. They did many country-ish songs. LIsten to "Far Away Eyes, " "Factory Girl, " or "Let it Bleed."
