Me and my friends always thought that the song itself, without lyrics, tells The Way It Ends. The start of it, all is okay. Then something happens. Then you're into the anger, the fast strumming. Something happened, and that's the anger. Then you get to 3:00-3:30, whatever happened in the anger is done, it's "ended", or he/she is ended. The solo explains how he feels after it, maybe sorrow and more anger towards himself. Very good song.
