Our Newest Lecture Series:
Demonology: Understanding & Winning the Spiritual Battle

The study of the Church’s demonology is a part of basic catechism and Christian instruction. The Scriptures are replete with teaching on the dark powers. Additionally, it is impossible to appreciate the magnitude of the saving deeds of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, without understanding how He, and He alone, has conquered Satan and destroyed his works. Lastly, Christians are called to fight and win in the spiritual war, and for this reason, it is essential that believers understand their enemies and their tactics. Toward this end, Father Josiah presents in these lectures in-depth studies of the Scriptures, Divine Services, and pedagogy of great saints and teachers on the subject of Satan and spiritual battle.

Lecture titles include:

Lecture #1 Jesus and Satan

Lecture #2 Demonology in the Baptismal Rite and the Divine Liturgy

Lecture #3 Gaining Mastery of Satan: The Life of St. Anthony the Great

Lecture #4 How to Win the Spiritual Battle according to St. John of the Ladder

Lecture #5 Engaging the Unseen Warfare: Fr. Lorenzo Scupoli and St. Nicodemos of the Holy Mountain

Lecture #6 C. S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters and Demonic Warfare in the 21st Century Falling West

I lived 15 years under sharia law, under Islamic oppression. I'm desperately praying to try find forgiveness and peace in my heart, because my instant reaction is always anger against islam. I keep remembering "vengeance is the lord's". Please pray for me so i may find it to forgive those that hurt me, as much as God has forgiven my sins.

This is providential. My last living grandparent passed earlier this week. None of us are Orthodox, but I am longing to become one. This is extremely helpful, I will continue to learn how to pray for her. God bless you Father.

I feel that Fr Josiah’s teachings are so well received by the faithful for the primary reason that he has become a megaphone of the teaching of the saints!

I am the last Orthodox in my family. One of my greatest worries is that i will have no one to pray for me when i am gone. I will definitely need the prayers.

As an altar server, my priest once told me that if I had any names I wanted him to read during the Proskomedia, to provide him with a list. Well, it slipped my mind and I never got around to giving him a list. I watched Fr. Peter Heers livestream earlier and he mentioned the importance of praying for the reposed and the list of names. Then I watch Fr. Josiah's video and he mentions the same thing.

I got the message loud and clear. My priest will be receiving a list of names from me this Sunday.

I am a Christian Turk, even though technically i am a Protestant since i got baptized at a Protestant Church 7 years ago, i have been questioning Protestanism lately and deeply. It is just not enough for me, both spiritually and mentally. ALmost 2 months ago, i came across this channel and Fr. Josiah Trenham. He became my favorite teacher with his mentality, his teachings, his perspective on worldly issues and overall his character. I am going to attend my first Orthodox church this sunday. All thanks to Fr. Josiah Trenham. I am curious and excited at the same time.

This was wonderful to hear. I am a baby Orthodox having only been welcomed into the church two and a bit years ago. Prayer for the departed is something I'm still learning about. My Dad died earlier this year and we have been praying for him both at home and during Liturgy. I know he wanted to be with God in the afterlife although he never discovered the one true faith. Lord have mercy on him and save him.

Any prayer, comes out of heart is powerful. There is no classification. Love thy Lord thy God, with all your heart, soul and strength.

I’m in need of The Lord to deliver me from my pride entailing of not praying and talking to him on the regular. I’ve convinced myself of the lie that he won’t hear me or answer me. I am falling back into the self hatred and self sabotaging myself with talking and thinking bad things.

I’m trying to decide weather I should become Catholic since it’s the closest thing too me, I have a lot more on my mind but I need Jesus because if not I know myself and I will end up like Judas if I continue in sin and not believing I’m forgiven mainly forgive myself.

Thank you, Father Trenham. I understand you dont read the comments. But this just popped up in my feed, and is an answer to a dream I had this week. My grandfather, Bumpa, died in 1997. He told me he was a Baptist, as was all his family. I dreamed he found me and told me he was so lost, and had been wandering all these years. He wept on my shoulder for a long time, grateful that he had found me. When he was recovered, I was able to guide him to paradise. I was never taught this about praying for the dead. Now I understand why it is so important. Amen.
