Watch again as James Cleverly and Antony Blinken held a news conference during a US state visit.

US Secretary of State said the United States will not give up on the goal of putting Sudan back on track to civilian democratic governance, adding that Washington is working in talks in Jeddah to extend the ceasefire and get an agreement on the provision of humanitarian aid.

Talks began on Saturday (6 May) between the army and the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah.

Residents of Sudan's capital reported air strikes overnight and sporadic gun battles on Tuesday amid what they said was a surge in looting, with no sign of progress in ceasefire talks taking place in Saudi Arabia.

The violence has prompted hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes, with the number of people internally displaced within Sudan more than doubling in a week to more than 700,000, the UN's migration agency said.

Tony Blinken’s father in law was Robert Maxwell’s lawyer & closest confidant. Tony likes to try to score some holocaust points whilst talking about his ancestors escaping Nazi captivity during WW2, & yet he somehow always manages to forget the part about how they were liberated by Russians. maybe fat Vicky Nuland told him to just leave out that bit ?
