I just learned more about the javelin in 8 minutes than I have in the last 28 years of following track and field! Great work!!!

To be clear about his Coaching history over the period that you are talking about…. Initially Neeraj was coached to World Junior success by Australian Gary Calvert, who suddenly and sadly passed away in 2018. Uve Hohn took over in 2017, but actually Neeraj has been coached to his Olympic success by legendary Biomechanics expert and coach, Dr Klaus Bartonietz. Having had the privilege of watch them work together in recent months, I am expecting great things from them in 2023.

Thanks for covering this Indian athlete representing a sport other than cricket in my country. Cricket and its stardom overshadows achievements of other athletes, who equally deserve respect and honor. Appreciate your efforts.

I recall being at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal when Miklos Nemeth threw a world record 94.58 meters. There were numerous athletic events going on at the same time when all of a sudden the whole crowd in the Olympic stadium saw this Javelin magically floating threw the air. There was a pronounced collective gasp that echoed throughout the Big O. The throw was that much further than everybody elses.

I wish Chopra will eventually make it. Jan Železný was GOAT. Of 20th century, as well as Uwe Hohn. But we need someone with incredible throw, and I believe Chopra can lift this gauntlet and make it. No record shines forever. And I am writing this as a Czech, who witnessed Železný's throws live, though late in his career.

I've seen a video some time ago, where Železný in his late 40's/early 50's threw javelin casually, in a training. He threw it over 70 meters, just like that. Someone walk his dog and throw his dog a stick. Someone throws his stick 70 meters far...

Good luck to Chopra!

Chopra is peaking right now and he's already an Olympic Champion (2020/21). Following 2021 there's one major event every year: World championships in 2022, 23 and 25 and the Paris Olympics in 24. I hope he can get couple of more golds and podiums in all 5.

It is amazing how close he is getting to out throwing the field like his coach in 84.
He is defiantly a force to be reckoned with. If he keeps on like this, we will see the Javelin remade again when he breaks 100.
And I have a feeling he will get there with consistently throwing near 90m.
What an athlete.

I think he's gonna throw 92m this year, and though he has quite a bit of competition left in him, I don't think he's gonna get Jan's world record, that throw basically turned him into a ballista

Looking forward forward to seeing Neeraj Chopra throwing over 90 metres this year for the first time which is perhaps surprising given his major championships medals.

The fact that the world record is about 10% further than the current world champion can throw is insane.
That would be like the 100m sprint record being around 8s80.

He's practicing in isolation. We here in 🇮🇳 haven't been hearing much about him.
I get the feeling that he'll do a 92+ in the upcoming season.
