For those wondering about airport checks on the Tax Free purchases, when you are going through Customs there is a Machine where you scan your Passport, that's pretty much all you have to do. They used to check your passport and take out stappled receipts, but they stopped doing that and even then they didn't checked if you had everything with you, they only took the receipts.

Hiya! Question! If I have done some purchases, and all went smooth, what happens on the day of exiting japan? I cant really find a straight answer of what I do on the airport. Who checks my purchases? Do I need to report it? What happens if I dont?
I just love to be in the know in the process, because if its too much of a hassle on the airport, I might just pass on buying stuff with tax deduction.
