Do you think any of these covers are better than the original?

Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt (originally by Nine Inch Nails) and Disturbed's cover of The Sound of Silence (originally by Simon and Garfunkel) will both give you chills

The Black Crowes placed a funky, unique spin on "Hard To Handle", making it fresh for the 90's, despite having been initially written and performed three decades previously.

Thanks to my mum's impeccable 70's and 80's music taste, I was more familiar with Bananarama's cover of "Venus." I didn't hear the Shocking Blue version until "Queen's Gambit."

Anyone else remember Gillette razor commercial featuring the song “Venus?” I legit thought they made that song just for that commercial lol.

When I first heard the Ataris cover "The Boys of Summer", I narrowed my eyes and cocked my head to one side wondering why Don Henley sounded so different. Don't worry, my daughter explained it.

Linda Ronstadt Blue Bayou (Roy Orbison originally).
Siouxsie and the Banshees didn't do a bad job with Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit. That whole album, Through The Looking Glass, is all covers. But Strange Fruit is my favorite Billie Holiday song, and when I heard Siouxsie's voice and the band's arrangement, it was pretty da*n good.

Siouxsie and the Banshees did an excellent job on Dear Prudence, love Talking heads Take me to The River, and Joan Jett did endless covers.
Great list
