Surfin' With Patricia Routledge

This is from a monthly musical comedy night in London called 'The Distraction Club' where the UK's musical comedians gather for what more closely resembles a party that an audience happens to be watching than a gig. It's always immense fun, and we're always encouraged to try new things and collaborate with each other on stage. (Musical comedians are usually kept apart from each other at regular gigs, because who wants two musical comedians on one bill?)

During my sound check, it suddenly occurred to me that I had an amazing backing band at my disposal. (Mitch Benn on bass, Kirsty Newton on keys and Ivan Sheppard on drums). So, with one rehearsal, ever, we did this.

I was totally expecting her to come onstage and take that second mic.

Came for unfinished London. Stayed for silly songs.

"Keeping Up Appearances" was one of my favorite shows as a kid! We lived on a farm in rural Illinois and didn't have cable TV, but we got plenty of Brit-coms on PBS, like KUA and "Are You Being Served?"

Came to this channel for Map Men, stayed for London Unfinished and other interesting stuff. I do enjoy these weird songs as well.

I'm American and this show is still on PBS all the time. I caught onto this reference really fast.

Mind the cyclist, richard.

More than anything I'm just amazed that Ms. Bucket is still alive.

One of my mums favourite shows. In Sweden it was called "Skenet bedrar", but translated back to English it's "it is not what it seems to be".

I was going to write a song called "I might be that slightly imperfect girl" and now I'm wondering as my name is Patricia, if it's fate

Why don't you do any of your shows outside UK? I would love to see you perform live, but I don't live in the UK

I was expecting the lyric "riding my cares away" to be a setup for a rhyme with Bucket.
