WARNING: The reason I'm showing this is others need to be aware of what I found at this cemetery in Louisiana. This is 200% not right at all! Very disturbing to be honest. Something needs to be done.

I felt sad when I saw the skull. Someone should fix that person's final resting place.

I sure hope you did the right thing and contacted the cemetery people to get this persons resting place fixed! No one deserves that

I had a friend in Alexandria who hung around with a couple of girls who lived near him. He was obsessed with these above ground cemeteries. One of the girls' fathers had a limousine (a local politician) and they took it out on a joy ride one night. They stopped at one of these cemeteries and found a crypt just like this one. My friend took the skull and wired it to the front of the car for a hood ornament. They drove around Alexandria for a couple of hours with the skull on the hood of this black limo till they got stopped by a motorcycle cop. When the cop saw the girl driving and realized she was the daughter of a local political figure he said: "Oh, it's you. Put that back where you got it before you go home." He let them go. My friend slept with that skull under his bed for several years until his father found it and got rid of it. I don't condone it, just thought it was a story worth mentioning. I actually don't understand that kind of disrespect for the dead.

They should seal that tomb so it can't be looked into.

That’s shameful . Tomb robbers. No dignity left .

Just to think that was a person alive and well at one time walking around enjoying life, laughing, eating, swimming, running ect, Now just an old skull in the dirt.

After a lot of exploring cemeteries and the cost I'm starting to think cremation is the way to go cemeteries are just not sustainable especially now that respect is at an all time low .

The ground is so moist in Louisiana that it causes the bones to rise to the surface. This is not an isolated event.

Graves in Louisiana like this one have something called a "covough" at the bottom of the mouseleum, like a bone bank. Basically...when someone is freshly buried, they're buried in a casket in the top mouseleom part. It gets super hot in Louisiana heat (like an oven in there) and in 1 year, they pull the casket out. Put the bones in a bag and put it in the covough for storage. That way the top part is ready for the next funeral. If you buy and old crypt, all the bones that are already in the covough stay. Yours would just be added. Thanks to Free Tours By Foot, very informative, I took tours to 2 cemeteries there. I wanted to add, there's lots of bones in there because it looks like the crypt itself, including covougu got damaged.

Dude I hope you notified someone who works at the cemetary that's someone's loved one, that's just sad 😔

As someone who lives here, I’ve seen a grave like this before, Not only is it from hurricanes but erosion as well. I have no idea why they don’t cover them but It would be nice if they did considering its on the side of the road

most cemeterys have caretakers. This is so disrespectful. That is somebody's loved one. Whoever is in charge of the cemetary needs to do their job.

When I was visiting Guadalajara in the early 90’s, my friend and I went to a large cemetery there. There were open gravesites and I remember one rusted out casket just laying out in the open. That was creepy, but then we came across a sort of low tomb on which there were bones and a skull.

These bones were from more than one person— looked like femurs— and they were placed in a triangular shape. The skull, which still had a tuft of dark hair, was laid on top. I remember how this looked because I still have the photo my friend took of me, sitting next to these bones. I don’t know what’s scarier— the bones or my 90’s hair.

Anyway, yeah. We all know there’s bones in the graveyard, but we aren’t supposed to be looking at them. I understand how they became exposed in this video, but I don’t like to think about how the bones I saw got to be exposed AND arranged.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. There is an abandoned cemetery on my father's property. One of the valts was busted and I decided to repair it. I took the lid off and sure enough a full skeleton was in there. I assumed (wrongly) that after 100+years, there wouldn't be any remains.
Anyways I couldn't repair the valt so I filled it with dirt and planted flowers on it.

Im hoping you reported it. Someone’s family may be long gone but it our job to guard those left behind. So sad and kind of in shock it’s left like this.

My dad stumbled upon a neglected cemetery. He contacted a local news channel. They did a report. Needless to say....it was cleaned up and has been properly maintained since.
