This scene destroyed me. Benny's final act was to not only save Boden's career (for now) but to make sure his son knew how proud he was of him and acknowledge that Boden was the one who turned Kelly into the firefighter he is. Crying even typing that. This is the Benny I loved in seasons 1 - 4. A man who despite his troubles loved his son fiercely.

The look on Boden's face when Severide breaks down is sad in itself, he's torn between being his boss and keeping it professional and being his friend and giving him a hug. Taylor Kinney really pulls these scenes out the bag! Brilliant x

I wanted to reach through the TV and hug Kelly so bad! It broke my heart to see him like this.

They delivered each line with emotion and depth.
Character development is what makes a good show that draws audiences into raw emotions. They truly are a family.
This scene made me cry because I too lost my father and he died alone.
The background music made this scene come together beautifully

They really know how to make you cry. Kelly Severide is my favourite character and it breaks my heart to see him like this.

Poor Kelly, his been through so much, the fact his still standing after everything he has endured losing Shay, losing Anna and now his father is a testament to how strong he is. Most people would have given up by now but not Severide with every tragedy his has suffered his come through it stronger than he was before it. Feel so bad for him though, would like to have reached into the tv, wrapped him in my arms and never let go.

His father finally redeemed himself for Kelly. I hope that Kelly won't hang on to the guilt he feels over the dysfunctional relationship he had with his father, he needs all the love and support he can get, from his girlfriend Stella, from Matt, from Boden, from his Mom, and from his sister Katie.

OneChicago had a pretty depressing start this season. First Casey's wife left him and now they killed off Severide and the Halsteads' dads. Can we have a few episodes where the gang is hanging out and having fun at Molly's or something...

When our parents pass away, we become children again, just wanting our mum or dad. I've lost both mine in the last couple years.
