Garry Adelman and Gary Gallagher think The Overland Campaign should be the focus of the next Civil War movie/show.

I would want to see a movie about Chickamauga and/or a Band of Brothers type of series for the 1st Minnesota.

Not just the Overland Campaign but the entire war for that matter. Like a tv series from First Manassas to the Surrender at Appomattox or Bennett’s Place

Two giants discussing our national history. Where do I get the popcorn to sit and listen? Would love to have them and Bob Krick just sitting together and discussing the Civil War. Topical or a random verbal exchange would be interesting and intriguing.

Would love a movie on cold harbor, and the bloody angle. 👍

Doing just Spotsylvania, the obvious starting point is the end of the Wilderness. Opening scene is night fall and the forest is a raging inferno. Union soldiers are in their trenches listening to the wounded being burned alive. That would set the stage for brutality of the film. Grant would then be shown ordering the army south, followed by Lee ordering his men to block the Union army. Then pick several units and develop the rest of the story there, probably the Irish Brigade and the Stonewall Brigade, since both were at the Mule Shoe.

That'd be awesome if they could include naval activities as well.

I’d love a movie done about the CSS Alabama

I think a movie about a family from Missouri that was half Union, half confederate would be pretty cool

They will only do it if they can be sure there's a market for it. Meaning we've got to support any and all projects that come about. let Hollywood know there's a big market for the stuff.

I'd choose the 5th Virginia Cavalry at Yellow Tavern, where Henry Clay Pate and JEB Stuart lost their lives

Hear me out. A film adaptation of The Last Full Measure with Martin Sheen as Robert E. Lee.

Hey my unit, the 47th NY Volunteer Infantry was there at the Crater and Cold Harbor !!!

Why just a Union unit? It would be more balanced if you followed two units, one from the Union and one from the Confederacy. The three largest battles during that campaign were The Wilderness, Spotsylvania Courthouse, and Cold Harbor. Cold Harbor was a confederate victory, and the other two are now being considered inconclusive; however, Grant was repelled by Lee in both battles.

I always thought the most realistic portrayal of how a current day Civil War might start was Euel Arden’s novel, Down Here in the Warmth. Great book. How can you go wrong with Militia on the streets of Manhattan.

Yes Indeed Mule Shoe would be like something out of War & Peace...I think we'll have to settle for BF Trust & others YouTube docs
