An Instagram friend of mine was part of a kidney donation chain a few years ago. She donated one of hers to a man who needed it, and in turn her mother got the one she needed. Luckily it all went smoothly, and when it was all done and everyone was recovered, they all got to meet 😊

she should have been fired and lost her license for this

Yeah I agree with the chief doctor. She knew that the chain will break for any reason. The female doctor let her "I need to be the best doctor" complex get to her. Granted I've never seen the show, yet this gives me a reason to dislike the character. I hope the character has like some sort of redemption arc.

That was absolutely coercion, bringing the dying child in to make the woman feel awful for not donating?? That doctor was out of line. Sad part is there are physicians that actually act that way in real life.

She basically guilt tripped her into doing something she had every right of not doing.

I had an aunt who had kidney failure because she never took care of herself and no one could tell her anything. She was on the kidney list, and by miracle, she made it to the top. Do you know what she did when she got the kidney? She resumed her old habits of eating junk food and chain smoking until she died two years after she got the kidney. There were people like that little boy who needed and deserved the kidney far more than she did. I don't know how she even made it on the list. I hate having to say that about my own relative, may she rest in peace, but that's the way it is. Some people do not deserve second chances when the chances available are limited.

I am sorry, but this wasn't unethical. This was downright inhumane. What happens if she is in an accident or gets an illness that damages her only kidney left? What happens if she gets married to someone or has children in need of a kidney? These are risks every donor accepts because, for them, the reason for their donation is as important, if not more, than their future health and life. No one, NO ONE, no matter the circumstances, should be forced (yes, the doctor manipulated her and forced her to donate, or else she will feel like a child murderer) to donate their organs.

I would’ve sued/reported that doctor just for that

As Dr. Brockett this is shameful and unethical
As Dr. Adams it’s worthy of being House’s next protégé.

There’s no ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ that would beat out the one mom I have

If she doesn’t agree to donate then the next person could be the “altruistic donor” and the chain would only decrease by one and so on and so forth. It doesn’t make any sense to coerce this donor with the idea that everyone dies if she doesn’t do it

Dr. Brockett was completely in the wrong no if ands or buts.

I think I finally figured out why I have major problems with shows like this Chicago md, greys anatomy. Everyone keeps saying it’s just a show anf it’s not supposed to be realistic but the tatics that the doctors use like this one are very real and are used constantly by abusers. People who tend to guilt trip people tend not to be good people but these shows constantly let these people off the hook for it cause they’re doing it to save a life so it’s totally ok.
No it’s not these people are manipulators and we don’t need to enable them.
Ironically I have a less problem with house probably because while he also does unethical stuff all the time it’s also constantly acknowledged that it’s toxic and people need to get away from him

I do not like doctors like Dr brockett. Sure, she has heart, but where is her brain? She needs to drop her agendas and just do her stupid job. I'm glad that he did not let her get away with that. After all, if she got away with that, what else does she think she can get away with? And what if she saved the chain only for it to fall apart again? Maybe they need to find a better way to manage the chain, but part of her job is respecting the wishes of the patient and her boss.

Call me whatever you want, but unless my mother was getting a kidney, I couldn't care less about anyone else in "the chain".
