'Mars' by Sleeping At Last (Lyric Video)

When I was a teenager, my favorite way to listen to music was to put on headphones and grab the lyric booklet from the CD case (yep, I’m old) and read along as I listened. That’s what I love about lyric videos. My pals at @Wonderkindstudios created simple and elegant lyric videos for my entire Atlas: I collection, all 30 songs. I’ll be posting them from time to time. ♥️ Here’s “MARS” (16/30).

When I saw that you read these comments, I wanted to try and explain how much your Atlas project means to me. I wasn’t sure how, but I tried:
Picture a kid in her room hearing Five and feeling like her messed up brain, that seems so different from everyone else’s, is a beautiful thing after all. Picture an anxious highschool freshman listening to You Are Enough and Pluto on repeat while waiting for class to start. Picture her trying to get through class each day, writing the lyrics to Saturn and Sun in her best handwriting, over and over, until class ends. Picture a young storyteller listening to Projectionist and Bad Blood and In the Embers and thinking “Yes, that’s it, these are the kind of stories I want to tell.” Picture a girl laughing in the rain and singing Taste and thinking about eternity. A girl making cookies in her Christmas pajamas, waltzing to I’ll Keep You Safe. A kid who tends to loose track of what’s important crying as she hears Earth for the first time, forcing herself to fix her eyes again on the things that matter. Picture a girl gritting her teeth through her parents’ divorce and humming along to West. Imagine her moving to a new state, repeating North in her head as she walks through her new home like a blessing. Picture her going to college and singing Mercury like a prayer. Picture her driving home for the holidays and singing Light as a promise to her little brother. Picture her singing Woodwork as she strives to build something new and beautiful with her life.
I know that this is rambling and disjointed and a little silly sounding. Just know that there’s a person who you’ll probably never meet, who grew up hand in hand with your music and was irrevocably changed by it.

In astrology it's considered "the lesser malefic", and it has historically suffered from a bad reputation because of its association to conflict and conquest. And yet. Mr. Ryan, I wish I could put in words how much your music means to me, when I feel about to quit, when sorrow and pain seems to crush me down, when I just feel the emptiness within consuming me, your music and voice help me to find the way back to the light, a way out from the darkness. As someone who lives somewhere in the world but has never felt like he belongs to this world, I love your songs. It makes me feel detached from everything.
