Starmer Goes Further Than 'Make Brexit Work' But Is It Enough?

Keir Starmer the Labour Leader delivered a speech to the CBI on Monday where he would "Make Brexit Work", but instead of the typical rhetoric, he gave some examples. But will it be enough to undo the damage Boris Johnson and the Brexiteers have inflicted upon Britain?

Brexit will not be reversed the next parliament - even if the UK wants it, the EU would not countenance it. The EU would first want to see that the EU is a stable, serious democracy - they cannot go through the Brexit nonsense again - which means that the UK will be out of the EU for at least the following parliament - if not additional parliamentary terms. Therefore, Starmer is correct - the UK is not re-joining the EU in any immediate future and policy has to be developed on the basis that the UK will be outside the EU for the forseeable future.

I fully agree with Starmer's approach to not "undo" Brexit but making it work.
Brexit is a done deal, and the next step will be to make the COUNTRY work again. If cosying-up to the EU needs to be part of that, let it be so.

Because re-joining cant be done in the short term and labour needs to get in power before anything can begin to change at all. Promissing to re-join and not being able to deliver on that would be worse for electablity in the future. So first fixing, trying to into the single market and rejoining EU projects has to be the steps forward

I respect that Brexit is a very contentious issue for many. We will not be able to correct the damage done until the UK is a fully paid up member of the EU once again and to that end that is where he should lead us as quickly as possible.
