How to get Houdini Particles to Unreal Engine

In this tutorial, we learn how to export a particle simulation from Houdini and import it into Unreal Engine using the Niagara plugin. The process involves downloading and installing the Houdini Labs tools as well as the Houdini Niagara Plugin for Unreal Engine and then exporting it as a JSON file using the Niagara ROP node. We then open Unreal Engine, enable the Houdini Niagara plugin, and import the JSON file into a new Niagara system. We go through some important steps, such as disabling the library-only option and setting the simulation duration and particle lifetime to match the Houdini simulation. By the end of the tutorial, we have successfully imported and played the particle simulation in Unreal Engine.

Hi, I noticed that in Houdini there seem to be much more particles, but seems fewer in unreal. Is this natural?

hey Nicolas,
Thanks for the video.
But i got this error while swapping the imported simulation at Houdini Niagara Basic.

Function call "InitializeParticle" is deprecated. Reason:

As of 5.3, This version is now fully deprecated and a conversion script will run to attempt to map the existing inputs to the new module. Most configurations should successfully transfer. Double check behavior after the new version is added.

Can you please help how to fix this issue?

Hi, just encountering an issue that when I imported into Unreal, I could not find it but I did set the transform node in Houdini, is there any specific number I should put as the origin in Houdini? I just put 1, 1, 1

I wish this was possible for big sims. I have 11 million points whitewater sim and there is no way in the universe Niagara or Unreal itself can even handle that. I hope Epic Games start making moves to establish Unreal outside game making by allowing for quality VDB import and real particle sim import.
