Just saw this last night… I guess it was the premier. What a fantastic voice very powerful here.

Wishing for the full aria. But this is as good as I remember anyone in recent years singing this killer of a piece.

She is marvelous here. I do like her in Italian roles, but she’s even better in German roles. I’m so happy about her twins, but I’m mad at her too 😉 — I have tix to see her in Vienna, as Sieglinde, June, but she canceled for obvious reasons!

She is 1000x better in this than in her TERRIBLE outings in the Italian repertoire like Forza and Tosca! In those her lack of legato, chest voice, profecirnt Italian diction, and overall sylistic understanding and phrasing make her embaraas herself. Here, even though she is WORLDS AWAY from great Lenore's like Christa Ludwig, she is able to do what she does best (pump out icy cold big sounds in the upper register) and Beethoven's brilliant score does the rest. Most pre-Verismo/Puccini Italian operas, even most Verdi, require a singer to bring a unique style and personality to pull them off. Ms. Davidsen has ZERO personality so she will never succeed in thar repertoire.

Fabulous instrument...but behind the beat...and no exciting forward energy. I am sure she will grow into this role.
