"Hide your strength. Bide your time."
That famous phrase from China's Deng Xiaoping governed the country's foreign policy for decades.
But under Xi Jinping Beijing has become an active - some would say aggressive - player on the global stage.

Intro “Is there a fine line between acting like a super power and taking things too far”. Hmmm. Let’s ask the USA about being a superpower and taking things too far.

How many country has China destroyed like Syria, Libya and Iraq in the past 10 years. if the worst accusations you can level at China is "debt trap" then I'd say China is a pretty responsible world power.
You also need to understand, territorial integrity is a core interest in China as well as any other country. the fact that even in the hotly contested South China Sea, China didn't fire a single shot in anger since 1988 says a lot about the level of restraint on Beijing's part.

good for Einar Tangen for calling out on the lady that it’s not China’s problem if the EU countries can ‘t get an agreement or a strategy in place to strenghten the own economic influential power during this current geopolitical game.

People who criticizes China on dealing with Hong Kong are quite and ignorant on India dealing with Kashmir. Is it hypocrisy?

It started with 2 vs 1 and then the interviewer joined in making it 3 vs 1.

From Beijing perspective, they can reject to keep the promise with all over the world, but all over the world should keep the promise with Beijing. Beijing is not a government, which is a gang !

The US has done a lot of bad things - sometimes with good intentions, sometimes selfish. But the US has also done a LOT of good things too, with "improvement of the Earth & its' people" as its' intention. There are still tons of NGO's out there trying to help impoverished ppl and fix up messes that we did have a part in, but tons of other countries also had a part in. We have a mostly free press to criticize ourselves about it & allow the world to criticize about it - and we don't punish countries for their critique either. I pray that Trump is a brief, embarrassing anachronism on the history of the US. (& I'm an atheist)

Beijing saves Australia from 2008 economic recession and the pundit seems to count that as a negative. also talks about china leaving international treaties without giving examples. reeks of bias and antichinarism. unprofessional

Ha ! It is no longer colonialism. What China is showing the world is Neo colonialism. These forces are much more aggressive and destractive than earlier colonial countries even more harmful than neo imperialis force like USA. Now smaller countries are subjugated not by force alone but by funds and bribes. Ruling class in these countries become the principal beneficiary, in some cases even the oppositions are purchased. Ultimately countries and their poor people become loosers. When we look at smaller countries in Asia and Africa, we find this "unique" Neo colonialism in operation. In the process these forces get militarily involved for market domination and to show their might. The greedy teeth and nails shown by the Chinese on the barren cold desert of Ladakh is a glaring example of that psyche. We will have to wait for some for time to see the end of it.

I like how the American speaker doesn’t mention the annexation of Puerto Rico when he mentions how America is ‘sorry’ for its’ imperialism

“It’s Beijing’s way or the highway” meanwhile US it’s USA’s way or economic sanctions or war XD if you are a weak country with oil you better believe it’s the latter

This lady is talking a misleading way, all she talked about is China’s internal issue, what is Hong Kong? Hong Kong is colonized land by British for more than 100 years, this China’s land not UK’s land by any meaning, why not talking about Ireland? XinJiang and Tibet all within China even before 15th centuries, Taiwan is part of China before 1905, ROC government fleet to Taiwan, do you know who is ROC? They the government in Mainland before 1949. All those issues are within China own territory. If China goes to European countries, support Ireland independent, you may say something like interfering. If China warship goes Mexican bay, you may say this aggression. They didn’t. Why don’t you take good care your own business like Yellow vest in Paris.

How is it when bullies (westerners) meet a bigger Bully (China)? 😂

If China is aggressive, why not stop all trade with China and we rearrange our trade partners through bilateral and cut out multilateral or collective bargain, let alone European Union.

Wrong word used to describe the detention camps in Xinjiang. More like illegal detention with deprivation and dehumanization thrown in.
These kind of discussions are getting more complex as people from all sides are throwing in examples from unrelated topics makes for a big mish-mash discussion. China is very big and lately many big issues are coming up in news.

You dont become a great power by antagonishing everyone because someone or the other gonna beat you up. Thats what happens to high schools bully eventually.
