UK researchers one step closer to corn earworm control

An insect pest that causes millions of dollars in damage to crops each year, might be slowed some thanks in part to research by a University of Kentucky student. Alonna Wright, a UK junior, helped make the discovery while working part-time with another scientist for a research products company. The work Wright did with the corn ear worm earned her the North America Young Scientist Award and now she will compete in the worldwide competition while continuing the research.
